Actions To Date

Many of you have supported our call for immediate and equitable city funding for months now and we couldn’t be more appreciative and are encouraged by this support. Important milestones towards Red River Cultural District receiving Cultural District funding our below. Our fight for fair funding continues, THANK YOU.

February 29, 2024 City Council passed Resolution 2040229-060 directing the City Manager to secure funding for various scope items for the RRCD, provide progress updates on the cultural district overlay and additional incentives and tools, and allocate future budget resources for the cultural district. The resolution called for action by the City Council meeting scheduled for May 2, 2024 – No action was taken.

Contact your local City Council Representative and ask them to vote in support of an immediate aid package for the Red River Cultural District.

What we need? Speak Up and Speak Out!

Red River Cultural District is looking for financial support from the City of Austin to support on nonprofit organization and the long-standing cultural contributions of our mile-long entertainment district. Ask your City Council member to support the following:

Funding to the Red River Cultural District that is consistent with other local cultural districts in order to continue the growth and evolution that contributes as an economic and cultural generator for the City of Austin
To reinforce our organizations efforts to serve as a strong steward for the live music and arts community and the Red River Cultural District as an internationally-renowned tourism destination
To support additional program and policy measures and recommendations previously put forth, each of which serves as critical tools to preserving and evolving the health of our music community beyond financial support to the Red River Cultural District

The growth of our City has come with many challenges for the Red River Cultural District. Our organization advocates for policy and programs to support the live music industry and importantly the dozen + independent live music venues in the Red River Cultural District.

Red River Cultural District Impact

Our District serves as economic and cultural generator for our community. As a worldwide tourism destination for live music and culture our organization educates, activates, and advocates for the long term preservation and evolution of the Red River Cultural District.

The Red River Cultural District is a creative community providing authentic Austin experiences through diverse local music, art & food for every fan & guest.
