IMPACT:

  • BEAUTIFICATION: Secured over $1.5 million in investments for safety improvements and beautification projects, enhancing the overall experience and appeal of the downtown area
  • STREET SIGNS: Installation of Cultural District-branded street signs at key intersections throughout the District to enhance district identity and visibility
  • STREET BANNERS: Installation of over 20 unique Red River Street banners showcasing local Austin musicians who have performed on its stages, boosting the district’s reputation and celebrating its musical heritage
  • PLANTERS: Installed and regularly maintain in partnership with the Downtown Austin Alliance large planters that add greenery to the district, creating a cohesive and inviting environment that enhances both the business and pedestrian experience
  • LIGHTING: Successfully advocated for increased lighting and became the only Cultural District to pilot energy-efficient solar lights, enhancing safety and fostering a more vibrant environment for local commerce 
  • FENCING: Collaborated with the city to address a neglected alley known for criminal activity, leading to its closure and improved security, significantly reducing crime and enhancing safety in the area

As place managers, the Red River Cultural District safety and streets remain top priority for our District. As a major destination for tourists and music and culture loving locals, RRCD has advocating and worked diligently to improve the pedestrian experience for all who visit Red River.
